The Word Add-in can run in a light or a dark theme. You switch between the two under Preferences.

Step by step

  1. Open the Options menu (the three dots ⋮) and choose Preferences.

  2. Under Appearance, toggle Dark Mode on or off. The theme changes immediately.

Good to know

  • Also sets the Accent Color: The same Appearance section under Preferences lets you choose the Accent Color (see Preferences).
  • The label follows the state: The toggle description names the theme it switches to - Switch to dark theme or Switch to light theme.
