In Preferences you tailor the Word Add-in to how you like to work - from appearance to language to speech recognition. The subtitle “Customize your experience” points the way.

Step by step

  1. Open the Add-in and click the Options menu (the three dots ⋮) at the top right.

  2. Choose Preferences.

  3. Adjust the areas you need:

    • Appearance: Turn Dark Mode on or off and choose the Accent Color.
    • Accessibility: Enable Color-Blind Optimized (blue/orange instead of red/green) or Monochrome (grayscale only).
    • Language: Set the interface language under Interface Language.
    • Speech Recognition: Turn on Enable Local Speech-to-Text. This requires a model download; you can see the Model Status under Local Speech Model.
  4. Under About you can find the installed Version.

Tip: More on switching Dark Mode in Dark mode & light mode.
