Case study

Messe München developed centralized, bilingual interactive templates for several contract types. Employees use guided questionnaires through the company intranet, while the legal department maintains the approved wording centrally. Each matter starts from an appropriate, current document without requiring additional support from the legal department.

The past

Before the implementation of Lawlift, there were no centralized and binding contract templates in the company. Different versions circulated and were used as the basis for new contracts without consulting the legal department. This led to erroneous wording, outdated clauses and inconsistent provisions. Even contract types with familiar patterns generated substantial contract-creation inquiries, tying up legal resources and delaying the process.

The new approach

With Lawlift, Messe München introduced centrally governed contract templates that guide employees through creating the appropriate document without continuous support from the legal department. The templates are available in German and English, which supports international teams and collaboration across locations. Central maintenance improved consistency while reducing the legal department’s workload.

Impact

The use of Lawlift has significantly relieved the legal department. Contract-creation inquiries have decreased, allowing the legal team to focus more on complex matters, strategic legal questions and innovative projects. Employees benefit from a simpler, more efficient process based on centrally approved wording, which accelerates the wider business process.

With Lawlift, employees can now independently generate important contract documents, such as NDAs, barter agreements, terminations, and contract packages from various agreements.

The introduction of Lawlift has substantially reduced the time required for contract creation and maintenance. Previously, over 800 hours per year were spent on contract creation and more than 700 hours per year on maintenance. With Lawlift, these times were reduced to about 100 hours per year for creation and approximately 150 hours per year for maintenance. The introduction of Lawlift has resulted in a time saving of approximately 82%.
