Document Tests check the open document against specific rulesets. The automatic quality checks cover citation verification, consistency and compliance rulesets - and the results show, per test, what was checked and where action is needed.

Step by step

  1. Open the Add-in, switch to the Review tab and open Run Document Tests.

  2. Choose the rulesets to test against. Use Get Suggestions to have the Add-in analyze the document and propose matches under Recommended Rulesets; the search field (Search rulesets…) and the System / Custom tabs narrow the list further.

  3. Optional: Use View details to see the tests contained in a ruleset. With Attach Standards Document you can add a PDF, DOCX or TXT file of standards to evaluate the document against.

  4. Click Run Tests. Progress is shown until all tests are complete.

  5. Review the Document Test Results. Each test gets a status of Passed, Review or Failed; flagged passages include Suggested Fixes along with the severities Critical, Major and Minor.

Good to know

  • Navigate in the document: Use Navigate to jump to the affected passage; Add comment to document places a note directly in Word.
  • Export report: Use Export report to save the results. Build your own rulesets with Create new Ruleset.
  • It is best to run document tests right after creating an AI draft from scratch.
