With an existing Lawlift template you can create a finished document right inside Word: pick the template, answer the questionnaire, and Lawlift inserts the generated text into your Word document.

Step by step

  1. Open the Add-in and switch to the Draft tab. Click Create Document (see the Draft tab in The task pane at a glance).

  2. Under How would you like to start?, choose Select Template. If you are not sure which template fits, use Describe what you need instead (see Find a template by description).

  3. Find the template you need. Use the My templates and All templates tabs to narrow the list, and sort by Name, Last used or Last updated.

  4. Open Template information to see details such as author, version and status. The mode shown tells you whether the template runs in Deterministic mode (text, questions and rules - 100% reliable, usable by non-specialist staff) or Guardrail-enhanced mode (text and a questionnaire, adapted by AI - flexible and setup-free, but the result should be reviewed by legal professionals). Learn more in Create a guardrail template.

  5. Click Use this Template.

  6. Fill in the questionnaire and click Generate document.

  7. The finished text is inserted directly into your Word document. Use View questionnaire to revisit your answers later.

Tip: Instead of answering every question by hand, you can upload existing documents - the AI reads them and fills in the questionnaire automatically (see Upload context & auto-fill answers).

Tip: Afterwards, run Document tests to check the draft for common issues.
